Goa Dairy farmers demand to postpone the Goa Dairy BoDs elections

Goa Dairy farmers claim that Goa Dairy BoDs elections scheduled for 19 June are illegal and do not follow proper procedures

The Goa Dairy farmers appointed Inquiry Committee Members Jayant Desai, Ramesh Naik and other farmers addressing to media said Goa Dairy Elections are going to be held without the following procedure and therefore illegal. The farmers demanded to stop the election procedure and postpone the Goa Dairy Elections scheduled on 19 June to save Goa Dairy. They even threatened to approach the court if their grievances are not heard.

The second reason for which the farmers oppose holding BoD Election is that around ten former BoD members who were disqualified by RCS have challenged it in Court and even got Court approval to contest the BoD election subject to the condition that in case they are elected they will not be able to reconstitute the Goa Dairy Board. Jayant Desai said this means that if they got re-elected on BoD they will not be able to form Goa Dairy Board until the final decision of the Court and thus again the government would appoint an Administrator to Goa Dairy Administration.  This means that there is no point in holding an election as the farmer-appointed BoDs can’t run their affairs and so the election needs to be postponed
