PONDA: The Goa Dairy annual general body (AGM) decided to handover the loss making cattle feed plant to government for its operation with various conditions. The Administrative Committee informed the AGM that the accumulated loss including loss of the cattle feed plant has touched Rs 7.68 crore.
The cattle feed plant at Usgao has been shut down since the past two month and the 35 employees working at the plant have been accommodated at the Goa Dairy milk processing plant.
Few years ago the cattle feed plant was started with the intention of providing good quality fodder at reasonable rates to milk producers. However, the project has only incurred losses since it began operations.
The Goa Dairy AGM on Saturday at Curti-Ponda witnessed heated discussions. The meeting was chaired by three member of the Administrative Committee Chairman Parag Nagarsekar, member Dr Rama Parab and Sandeep Parab Parsekar, while Managing Director Yogesh Rane was present. Among the 166 AGM members 94 were present.
The AGM was also informed that Goa Dairy was fined Rs 10 lakh for delay in payment of TDS by the respective government department. The AGM members demanded that action be taken against the employee responsible for this and also to recover the money from him for delay in payment of TDS. Proper action was also demanded against some suspended employees. There was also demand made for appointment of two veterinary doctors for making available medicines for cattle of associated farmers.
