PONDA: Cooperation Minister Deepak Dhavalikar on Tuesday urged the Goa Dairy not to always depend on the government, but to work hard to become self-reliant in milk production.
Speaking after launching the ice cream of Goa Dairy at Ponda, Dhavalikar said, “To sustain the market for its different products, it should go for milk production by purchasing at least 2,000 cows along with buffaloes to yield milk, so that they may not need to buy milk from neighbouring states.”
“If Goan milk producing farmers choose to supply their milk to other dairies in future, Goa Dairy will be in crisis to procure milk for its products. So if it’s self dependent, it will help them to keep control on their milk products,” stated Dhavalikar.
Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar said to sustain itself in the market, good and result giving marketing officials is a must and Goa Dairy should not ignore this fact.
Mamledar, Goa Dairy President Vithoba Dessai, Managing Director N C Sawant and board of directors were present.
