Goa Declares Monsoon Foul Season from May 21; Aguada Sand Bar Closed for Inland Vessels

The Captain of Ports Department has officially declared the monsoon foul season in Goa from May 21 to September 15, 2026, as part of annual maritime safety measures during the rough weather period.

According to the department, the Aguada Sand Bar will remain closed to all inland vessels starting May 21 in view of navigational safety concerns caused by monsoon conditions.

The department also announced that navigation lights at several key locations — including Malim, Campal, Reis Magos, Tejo Front and Rear, and Aguada — will remain switched off from June 1 until further notice.

Authorities have advised vessel operators and inland water transport users to follow all safety directives and navigation advisories issued during the monsoon period.
