Panjim: In a significant move towards enhancing accessibility and convenience, the Department of Archives in Panjim has joined hands with Goa Electronics Limited to launch an Online Portuguese Translation Service. This service will enable the public to efficiently translate Portuguese documents into English without the need for in-person visits.
The service was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by the Minister for Archives and Archeology, Min Subhash Phaldesai. He highlighted the ease and affordability of this initiative, which will provide access to translation services from 15 empaneled translators at a reasonable rate of Rs 350 per page.
The introduction of this online translator service is expected to benefit a wide range of individuals, from historians and researchers to common citizens seeking translation assistance for various purposes.
Furthermore, Minister Phaldesai announced that the digitization of archival documents will be carried out in a phased manner, marking a significant step towards preserving Goa’s rich historical records for future generations. This digitization effort is anticipated to facilitate easier access to historical documents, fostering research and exploration of the state’s vibrant heritage.
