PANJIM: The Goa board of secondary and higher secondary education (GBSHSE) had decided to go in for in-built safeguards and mechanisms to ensure uniformity in the implementation of the continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) scheme for class IX from June 2014.
The board members who met here on Wednesday discussed in detail, the modalities for implementation of the CCE and a few minor modifications were recommended.
While chairman J R Rebello declined to disclose the proposed mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of the CCE scheme, he pointed out that in case the Board is not satisfied with its implementation by any school, it would step in and ensure that the system works fairly and impartially during the process of evaluation and assessment.
“Initially the board will have to exercise some control over schools to ensure proper and uniform implementation of the scheme,” Rebello said, adding that the Board has also assured the education department that a foolproof system is being worked out before the CCE gets underway from June 2014 for class IX and in the following year for class X.
The committee constituted for implementing CCE will meet again to fine tune its report which will be placed before the Board’s academic council later this month.
Meanwhile, chief minister Manohar Parrikar who was invited to the board on Wednesday assured to make additional budgetary provisions for Goa Board.
Rebello said, “The government is keen that we attain self sufficiency over the years as the Board ensures to improve the quality of education.”
Presently, since Goa board is an autonomous body, it relies on finances from board examination fees. This however, is inadequate to fund the board’s academic activities and other programmes.
