Two Water Jet Propelled Fast Attack Crafts(WJFAC) are being inducted into the Indian Navy here on Wednesday.
INS Cankarso and INS Kondul, fifth and the sixth in a series of WJFACs of the Indian Navy, are named after islands off Goa and Nicobar.
They have a displacement of 325 tonnes and reach a speed of 35 knots.
Each has a complement of four officers and 45 sailors.
The two vessels were recently commissioned into the Naval fleet at Visakhaptnam.
The new vessels are used mainly for search and rescue operations, patrol duties, detection and destruction of small and fast-moving craft, policing the coast, anti-smuggling and fisheries protection operations.
Commodore Ajay K Chhabra, Naval Officer in Charge(Goa) will welcome the ships to Goa.
