Goa govt gets Rs 19 cr funding for expansion of Verna Ind Estate

PANJIM: The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has sanctioned and disbursed Rs 19 crore to the Goa government for the development and expansion of phase IV of the Verna Industrial Estate.

The disbursement is part of ‘Scheme for Special Assistance to the States for Capital Investment for 2022-23′. The scheme seeks to provide assistance to the States towards development of infrastructure projects, which conform to the principles and objectives of the PM’s Gati Shakti Mission. Addressing a press conference, Director of Industries Swetika Sachan said that the State has received Rs 19 crore from the Central government towards development of Phase IV for the Verna industrial estate. She said that the project is executed through Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).

Sachan, who was speaking in the presence of Special Secretary (logistics) Sumita Dawra, said that the project includes internal road connectivity, electricity, and drainage facility among others.

Earlier, Dawra spoke about the first PM’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) Regional Workshop for the central and west zone to be held in Goa on Monday, February 20.

She said that senior government officials from central ministries/departments like ministry of road, transport and highways, ministry of railways, department of telecommunications and Niti Aayog, and States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh will participate in the regional workshop.
