Goa Govt. to Implement Inquiry Commission’s Recommendations on Land Grabbing; Plan EC for Sand Mining

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the Goa cabinet’s acceptance of the recommendations put forth by Justice (Retired) V K Jadhav Inquiry Commission concerning land grabbing issues. Sawant assured the implementation of all suggestions, emphasizing actions like taking control of no-man and government lands, as well as conducting a comprehensive review of archives and land-related documents. 

” We have accepted the SIT report by Justice VK Jadhav, and chargesheets will be filed in all cases,” confirmed Sawant. “In Justice Jadhav’s report on land grabbing in Goa, he noted the forgery of documents pertaining to no-man’s land, leading to its illicit sale. He has given suggestion and the government will take decisive steps to regain ownership of these unlawfully sold properties,” stated Sawant.

 Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed plans to introduce an Environmental Clearance (EC) for sand extraction within the Zuari, Mandovi, and Chapora rivers. However, sand extraction will only be permitted through traditional methods. The Goa government has declared a public holiday exclusively for government servants and schools on January 22nd to celebrate the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishthan Sohala.
