QUEPEM: With the State police chief threatening to take action against the people for opposing the projects, Goyant Kollso Naka (GKN) on Sunday vowed to continue its anti-coal movement and warned the politicians that Goa is not for sale.
Speaking at an awareness programme organised at Tilamol, Abijit Prabudesai of GKN said, “The police is trying to pressurise the people and create panic. However, we are not going to back off and will continue with our movement. We want to tell each politician that Goa is not for sale and it belongs to Goans.”
He said, “Our awareness programme started at Tilamol today and we will continue our movement in North Goa. In Sao Jose Areal and Davorlim, the work has been started under police protection. This means that the government is not listening to the people and are carrying out the work forcefully.” Prabhudesai said, “We have been trying to seek an appointment with the Chief Minister but till date we have not been able to do so.”
He said, “Former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar was not in favour of coal handling and double tracking. He had rejected this project for the betterment of Goans.”
