The
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had sought to host the National Games in Goa
from September 1 to 16. Sports Minister Govind Gaude informed that he will
request the IOA to grant the State 6 months preferably after December to host
the National Games in 2023 to put the infrastructure in place for the national
games. Although Goa is prepared to host IFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, due to
monsoons the infrastructure to host the national games will not be ready in two
months, he said.
Gaude also informed that he is constantly updated to keep a
check on Kala Academy’s progress to ensure the restoration works are going as
per schedule. The inaugural date of Kala Academy will be known by the end of
August, he said.
