PANJIM: The Goa Konkani Academy was a premier institution that was supposed to be the flag bearer of Konkani language once Konkani became the official language and Goa gained Statehood. However, the puny building which houses the academy is in a dilapidated condition.
The rains have only worsened the situation with water dripping into the academy and chunks of the slab and walls giving way.
Danger lurks at the neglected and dilapidated academy as the rain water keeps dripping, damaging the books and putting the lives of employees in danger.
The Academy is an organisation set up by the Government of Goa in1986 to promote Konkani in the State.
Its aim is to accelerate the swiftness in developing Konkani by encouraging writers, researchers, etc. and to bring Konkani language from all areas together.
