Goa likely to be permanent venue for Defence Expo

Venue to be open for public from 9am to 5pm on Thursday; Free entry for visitors with govt agency issue valid photo ID card; Hinted at making Goa permanent venue for alternate yearly expo

Panjim: The Director of Defence Exhibitions Organisations while addressing a press brief on Wednesday hinted at their desire to make Goa the permanent venue for the Defence Expo that takes place every alternate year. The Director has also announced that the 9thedition of Defexpo 2016 will be open to the public on Thursday, 31st March 2016 from 09:00 am to 5 pm and the entry to the venue will be stopped at 3 pm. Free entry will be permitted to visitors with any government agency issued valid Photo ID Card. 
While informing about the culminated 4 days of expo the Director M.D. Singh refused to clarify on the ideas of the permanent venue, however said “The Foreign Delegates of companies who have been in service for 30 years have called this Defence Expo as the biggest logistical operation of their lifetime and is a world record in itself,” said M D Singh.
“We will remove and clean and hand over the land on time and we are not going to make anything permanent,” he added.
“We have hotels fully booked in the lean season and taxis fully used, it definitely will increase in the future and we will have better planning for the same,” Singh explained.
On 31st the visitors are advised not to bring items such as knives, firearms, match box/lighter and inflammable material as these are not allowed at the venue.  Live demonstration of various equipment including Battle Tanks, armored Vehicles and air show is scheduled to commence at 11 am at Live Demonstration Area inside Defexpo venue.
The largest Defexpo in the country so far and being held in Goa for the first time was inaugurated by the Defence Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar on Monday, 28 March 2016.  A Large number of Defence and Security equipment showcasing latest technologies on Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems are placed on display. The four-day exhibition will conclude on 31 March 16.
