VASCO: An Air India flight en route to Mumbai with 116 passengers was forced to abort its take-off early Wednesday morning following a bird-hit incident at the Dabolim International Airport.

The incident occurred at around 6:55 am when the flight was about to depart from the Dabolim airport to Mumbai.

According to Airport Director M C Jayarajan, the flight was in the process of taking off when an alert air traffic control (ATC) noticed smoke emanating from the aircraft’s left engine and the take-off was immediately aborted upon the ATC’s alert. The aircraft was then moved to the apron, where all passengers were safely deplaned, he said, adding that it was a serious matter and that they will address this issue with the Indian Navy. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is operating the airport as a civil enclave in the INS Hansa.
