Tawadkar, replying to cut motions tabled on the demands for grants for Agriculture, said this was possible due to the government’s constant support to farmers.
He said the government needs to look at agriculture seriously as it can bring big benefits. “Today mining has stopped and if something similar happens to the tourism industry, what will happen?” he asked and spoke on the need to motivate farmers.
“Last year we produced 150 tonnes of vegetables in the State, out of which 80 tonnes were only chilles and we exported 17 tonnes to neighbouring Begavi, from where we import our vegetables,” he said.
He said this has been possible due to the steps taken by his government like 100 per cent subsidy for poly house farming.
“Several farmers have taken advantage of this scheme and are doing quite well. I know a few who are earning Rs 1 lakh every month through farming,” he said.
