MARGAO, JAN 13
The Goa police have offered help and assistant to their Belgaum counterparts in the investigation of the drug peddling case involving a police head constable, besides other drugs cases.
Superintendent of Police, South Allan De Sa said the Goa police would extend all possible help to the Belgaum police if they think there are deeper links to the arrest of a Goa police constable in drug peddling.
“I am not only taking about the instance case. But, if the Belgaum police have any specific information regarding any drug case having connections with South Goa, we will offer all out support to take the investigations to the logical conclusion”, De Sa added.
The Belgaum SP, Sandeep Patil had stated in Belgaum on Wednesday that the arrest of the head constable attached to the Margao police station could reveal deeper links in Goa.
De Sa said the police would coordinate with their Belgaum counterparts to crack a whip on drug peddling between the two points.
Meanwhile, DySP Mahesh Gaonkar, the inquiry officer appointed by the district police chief to inquire into the arrest of the head constable Arun Desai by the Belgaum police, will leave for Belgaum either on Friday or Saturday.
SP De Sa informed that DySP Gaonkar would inquire into all aspects of the case pertaining to the involvement of head constable Arun Desai in drug peddling.
The SP, South had on Wednesday placed under suspension the tainted cop after his arrest by the Belgaum police on Tuesday.
