Goa officials visit Kalsa canal, take stock of work

MAYEM: The three-member panel including Additional WRD Chief Engineer P G Kamat, superintendent engineer Srikant Patil and assistant engineer Suresh Babu visited the disputed Kalsa canal site at Kankumbi on Wednesday evening, to take stock of the ongoing work at the site.
A three-member panel was appointed to look into the development and accordingly, the panel visited the disputed site to take stock of construction work.
Executive engineer Narayan Annavar, who is looking after the work of Kalsa canal on behalf of Karnataka government, apprised the panel members about plans by the Karnataka government to construct a Bundh.
“The incomplete construction work from ‘Ambyacho Vhal’ to Mauli Temple has been continued to avoid any tragedy during the monsoon,” Annavar told the panel members.
Annavar further informed that the contract has been awarded to D R N Infra Company from Hubli, which has been making efforts to complete the work as per the order of Tribunal.
“Karnataka Nirawari Nigam has also stressed on the need to complete the work. The contactor will also try to repair the Mauli temple which has developed cracks,” added Annavar.
