PANJIM: Goa police on Tuesday expressed their solidarity with the COVID-19 warrior policeman ASI Harjeet Singh whose hand was chopped off in a sword attack, while imposing curfew restrictions in Punjab and then later reattached after an 8-hour long surgery. Police wore badges with his name replacing badges of their own names. The dept also took the opportunity to pay tribute to all COVID-19 warriors.
“Goa Police dedicated its duty today (Tuesday) to ASI Harjeet Singh of Punjab Police who lost his hand fighting the war against COVID-19. As a part of this gesture, all staff of Goa Police reported to duty today with name tags of Harjeet Singh. Rightly today, all of Goa Police represents #IAmHarjeetSingh. Though this gesture, Goa Police is paying a tribute to all Corona Warriors who have dedicated their all to fighting this pandemic. May almighty give strength to all Corona Warriors and succor to mankind from this deadly virus,” reads a press release.

Punjab police also expressed solidarity in the same manner and common man too participated in this campaign by writing ‘MainBhiHarjeetSingh’ on a placard and posted it on social media.
Singh, whose left hand was severed in a clash by Nihang Sikhs in Patiala on April 12, has been promoted to the rank of Sub Inspector (SI) in recognition of his exemplary courage, while three other police personnel involved in the incident have been awarded the Director General’s Commendation Disc.
