Goa Police Urges Restaurants to Promote Safe Travel: Encourages Patrons to Call Cabs after Drinking

As the tourist season approaches its peak in December, the Goa Police initiated measures to enhance road safety by convening a crucial meeting with proprietors representing clubs, pubs, and restaurants located in the Anjuna and Siolim areas. The focus of this session was to align these establishments with the essential role they play in ensuring the welfare of patrons who indulge in alcohol consumption on their premises.

During the meeting, Goa Police officials stressed the responsibility these venues hold in advocating for responsible conduct among their clientele. Specifically, they urged these businesses to discourage patrons from driving after consuming alcohol and instead promote the use of cab services, emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing safety.

SDPO Jivba Dalvi articulated the importance of reporting any accidents involving tourists who, while enjoying Goa’s scenic beauty and beaches, might lose control due to alcohol consumption. Dalvi highlighted the need for reporting such incidents to the police station rather than resorting to confrontations or demanding compensation for vehicle damages, reiterating that handling such situations isn’t within civilians’ purview unless the tourist is willing to address it voluntarily.
