Goa receives 100% ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certification from Centre

The government's Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide piped water to all rural households by 2024.

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that Goa became the first State in the country to achieve 100 per cent ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certification from the Union Jal Shakti Ministry.

Goa has achieved 100 per cent coverage of tap water connections in rural areas covering 2.63 lakh households. Earlier in October 2020, the State government had made the same claim.

Sawant took on Twitter to announce the achievement. “Goa becomes the first State to achieve 100% ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certification under the Jal Jeevan Mission of Union Ministry of Jal Shakti,” he tweeted.

“Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and with support and guidance of Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Public Works Department, Goa implemented the mission, bringing the Tap Water Connection to every household in Goa,” he added.
