Goa reports 70 cases of dengue in November

PANJIM: The State reported 70 cases of dengue in the month of November this year, 31 less than the cases reported in the previous month, an official of Directorate of Health Services (DHS)  said.

Speaking to O Heraldo, Directorate of Health Services National Vector Borne Disease Control Health Officer Dr Kalpana Mahatme said, “For the month of November, we had 70 cases this year. We had cases till November due to erratic rains till November. But now suspected cases are coming down. There is a decreasing trend except for Vasco, Margao, Cortalim and Chimbel that too in few congested areas in migrant settlement areas. Other areas are clean.”

“Our routine preventive control measures are going on like house to house visits, source reduction drives, awareness activities, fogging where there is breeding and cases,” Dr Mahtame said.

“As of now we are also concentrating on the construction sites as we are detecting workers from endemic States coming with fever and detecting positives,” Dr Mahatme added.

In October this year, as many as 101 cases were reported in the State as against 90 cases reported during the same period last year.
