The Goa State Election Commission (SEC) has corrected the reservation category for the Raia Zilla Panchayat seat, changing it from Scheduled Tribe (ST) reserved to ST-women reserved. The adjustment ensures compliance with the constitutional requirement of reserving one-third of all seats for women, including those belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
The SEC has submitted its reply to the High Court, confirming the revised reservation and clarifying that the correction brings the Raia ZP seat in line with mandated norms. Further proceedings in the matter are awaited.
