Goa Shack Owners Reach Resolution with Chief Minister Over Establishment Methods

All Goa shack owners gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday and demanded the execution of a previous demarcation plan. Their demand also includes reverting to the old shack establishment method based on Geo Mapping. They stated that unless the plan is rolled back, shacks won’t open this season. 

Following the passionate appeal from the shack owners, the Chief Minister addressed their concerns by authorizing operators to resume activities immediately, aligning with the previous shack policy effective from today. This decision by the CM has been well-received by the shack owners, marking a resolution to their ongoing standoff.

The delay in erecting shacks was attributed to the Environment Department’s failure to demarcate the designated areas, as revealed by the shack owners. However, they have now confirmed that this issue has been effectively addressed by the Chief Minister. 

Citing unfulfilled commitments, the collective emphasized the apparent inability of the Tourism and Environment departments to implement promised measures, attributing the delay in shack set-ups to 

“The issue has been resolved by the CM, and demarcation will be done as per the old plans. At present we wont be putting up the shack stages or the platform. The Chief minister has said that the sewerage tanks should be above the ground level,” said a member of All Goa shack owners.
