PANJIM: Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Vasco signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Cabinet Defence Secretary aimed at providing assistance by GSL in Kenya’s capability building programme and transfer of technology and design support.
A high-level delegation from Kenya was led by Aden Bare Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Defence comprising and included High Commissioner of Kenya in India, Amb Willy K Bett and Director General of Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL), Major General Paul Otieno.
GSL chairman and managing director Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay apprised the delegation of the ship design, shipbuilding and ship repair capabilities of the GSL. The Cabinet Secretary took keen interest in the modernised infrastructure capability of the shipyard as well as the diversified product range of GSL, which will find application in the maritime sector of Kenya.
Duale expressed his desire for closer collaboration between Goa Shipyard Limited and Kenya Shipyards Limited, both government owned Shipyards in their respective countries, in Indian Ocean region.
