Goa Pencak Silat team competed won 10 bronze and 2 Silver medals in the 5th West Zone Pencak Silat championship 2024 held at Panchgani, Satara district of Maharashtra on Thursday. Total 14 Silat students of Goa team participated in this tournament.
‘Modern Martial Arts Academy’ Pencak Silat Goa team recently participated at the 5th West Zone Pencak Silat championship 2024 at Panchgani Maharashtra. Players from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Daman and Diu and Goa state participated in this championship.
There were two forms in this championship that is Tanding (fight) and Senior (Kata) event. There were sub-junior, Junior and senior category in which players participated.
In female fight (junior) category, chrissie fernandes won bronze(40-45kg), Adyasha P. Saamal won silver ( 30-35kg), Santoshi P. Desai won Bronze(50-55kg) and Vrishti Naik
Bronze (40-45) medal.
In female fight (senior) category, ) Namrata Anant Paryekar won Bronze(55-60kg) and Mariyam Shaikh won Bronze(45-50kg) medal.
In male fight (senior) category Aley Sam Da Silva won Bronze(70-75kg), Aman Raghunath Gaonkar won Bronze(65-70kg) and Ganpatrao Prabhakar Desai won Bronze (75-80kg).
In fight (sub-junior) category Chrisileo Jose Fernandes won Silver(30-35kg) medal.
Kata event(senior) category Seetakumari gupta
won Bronze in tungal and in junior category Chrissie fernandes won bronze medal. Participants were felicitated with the participation certificates and medals. Goa Pencak Silat team was trained and supported by the Chief instructor of Pencak Silat Cedley Braganza who was also felicitated at this Championship for imparting Silat training to the Goan students and promoting Pencak Silat in Goa state.
