Goa to display tableau in Delhi on Republic Day

Revolves around the theme Vikasit Goa, Vikasit Bharat, depicting Tapaloka Yog Kshetra, Goa’s marine life and Jal Jeevan Mission; festival generates patriotic fervour and showcases the rich and varied cultural diversity of the country

PANJIM: Artiste Sushant Khedekar of Ponda is conceptualising and designing Goa’s tableau for Republic Day parade in New Delhi. The tableaux revolves around the theme Vikasit Goa, Vikasit Bharat, depicting Tapaloka Yog Kshetra, Goa’s marine life and Jal Jeevan Mission.

The tableaux will be displayed in Bharat Parv to be organised at the Red Fort New Delhi by the Union Ministry of Defence from January 23 to 31. Bharat Parv is being organised to celebrate the spirit of India i.e. unity in diversity. This festival generates patriotic fervour and showcases the rich and varied cultural diversity of the country.

The Goa government has selected artiste Sushant Khedekar to the work related to conceptualisation, designing, fabrication and presentation/display of Goa tableaux during the nine-day Bharat Parv.

The event includes a food festival, a Handicraft Mela, Folk and tribal dance performances, cultural troupe performances, a display of  Republic day tableaux and the Illumination of  the Red Fort among other things. 

The fabrication work of Goa tableaux has already been commenced at Rashtriya Rangshala camp. The team of 40 artisans including carpenters, designers, sculptor and fabricators led by Khedekar are working tirelessly round-the-clock to see that the work of fabrication of tableaux is completed in all respects by January 22. So far 60 per cent work of tableau has been completed, according to the Department of information and publicity under whose auspices the Goa tableau will be displayed.

This year, the Republic Day Cultural pageantry will see participation of sixteen States from across the country. These includes Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
