PANJIM: Goa is set to get two ayurvedic hospitals and two National Institutes of Ayurveda, and Yoga & Naturopathy in the coming years with the Centre sanctioning Rs 1022 crore for this.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr Sampit Patra said that two ayurvedic hospitals in the north and south districts have been sanctioned at Rs 11 crore each, while National Institute of Ayurveda and National Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy will come up at a total cost of Rs 1000 crore.
“The institutes will be set up under the AYUSH Ministry. The works have already begun and the Centre has released Rs 500 crore in phase I for the national institutes while the balance amount will be released in the second phase,” he said, as he spelt out the achievements of the Narendra Modi government in the last three years.
AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik said that the national institutes would come up at Dhargal where a post graduate course for a batch of 30 students will be included. “The land acquisition is done and its possession will be carried out in the next week. Whereas the tender to initiate the whole process of setting up the institute will be floated before July,” he said.
The Ayurvedic hospitals, on the other hand, will come up at Sanquelim and Macasana. Naik added that the hospitals would be of 50 beds each.
