PANJIM: As part of All India Tiger Assessment, the State Forest Department is gearing up to carry out the Tiger Census 2022 in March-April.
NTCA-Southern Zone has already conducted a three-day training programme that was attended by forest officials from Goa. The Forest Department personnel underwent training at Theppakadu Training Centre in Madumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris.
“The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) will conduct a second phase of training for State forest officials in the coming ten days,” Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Santosh Kumar told HERALD.
The Census to be carried out in two phases will include ground based survey and camera trap method.
