PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday claimed that Goa tops the chart in digital literacy even as he expressed confidence that Goans would not hesitate to switch to online transactions.
“Goa tops in literacy and digital literacy. People have started accepting digital transactions. I wish that the entire population takes it seriously,” he said at the launch of Digi Dhan Mela on Wednesday.
The day-long fest organised as part of the pan-India strategy towards promoting digital payment methods had Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar appealing to the people to opt for cashless payments.
“Cashless transaction will help curb tax evading activities and will also bring accountability in the economy. Many foreign countries have already implemented cashless system and India needs to move forward in this regard. As such, understanding the actual use of cashless transaction is very important,” he said.
