PANJIM: Notwithstanding to the demands of Final Year students, the Goa University (GU) has decided to go ahead with offline examination for them, starting from January 14 with a liberty to answer a Special Exam, to be held at later date, in case if he or she fails to answer now.
At the same time, the University has maintained that examination for all other under graduate general and professional programmes will be held in online mode.
“However, in view of the present pandemic situation, a Special Examination shall be conducted at a later date for all students who are unable to appear for the current examination,” GU Registrar VS Nadkarni said in a circular issued on Tuesday.
The varsity had on January 4, issued circular shifting to online mode of examination for all under graduate programmes except for Final Year students. The same was strongly objected by the students.
The students delegation led by National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa unit had petitioned various authorities including Governor and Chancellor of University PS Sreedharan Pillai to conduct online exams for Final Year students in view of rising COVID-19 cases in the State.
The University in a fresh circular issued has said, “it has been decided that all the examinations of the general and professional programmes scheduled in January-February, will be conducted as per the schedule in online/offline mode as already declared”.
