PANJIM: Probably, Goa became the first State to introduce automated storage system for preserving and protecting valuable antiquities registered with the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology.
The State government also intends to explore the system to store over six crore archival documents dated back to 1814.
The Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar launched the Advanced Antiquity Management System, which is a software driven automated storage used for storing and preserving the antiquities.
In a press statement issued, the department said so far such technology was used to store the industrial equipment and products.
“For the first time in the country, the directorate has introduced the technology, developed by Pune based I-Tech Business Solutions,” the statement reads.
Kavlekar said the need for more such advanced technologies for management and maintenance of the heritage.
