PANJIM: The Crime Branch arrested a resident from Siridao on the charge of possessing ganja worth over Rs two lakh.
A raid was conducted by PI Laxi Amonkar and his team on Sunday wherein the accused person Clismon Pires, 20, a resident of Siridao, was arrested for being in illegal possession of greenish colour flowering and fruiting tops of a plant suspected to be ganja. The ganja was concealed in the dickey of his two-wheeler. The seized ganja weighed 2.06-kilo grammes and is worth Rs 2.10 lakh approximately in the international market.
A case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been booked and Police are conducting further investigations.
