Goa Velha residents complain of irregular water supply

PANJIM: Irregular water supply in Zuari-Goa Velha has prompted a local group to approach the PWD urging it to solve the problem. The Citizens Committee of Zuari-Goa Velha has written to the Assistant Engineer (Water Supply Division) alleging that negligence on the part of the department has affected more than 100 families, many of which comprise senior citizens.
“In our area, water is released for just two hours every alternate day. The supply is not released in time and by full pressure. A senior citizen has been begging his neighbours to lend some amount of water as he has been deprived of direct water supply for eight days. Nobody has bothered to heed his repeated complaints,” the committee said.
NGO Mango Foundation, which has taken up the issue with the department, said every family in the locality is affected due to irregular water supply. It has requested the authorities to release water for 6-8 hours daily.
