Goa warns of strict action against noise pollution violations

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) chairman, Dr Levinson Martins, had issued a stern warning against rising noise pollution across the state, stating that violations of permissible sound limits would invite strict action. Citizens were urged to report cases of excessive noise by contacting the designated helpline number 8956487938. Complaints received through this helpline were automatically forwarded to the concerned police officers, deputy collectors, and local police stations for immediate intervention. Dr Martins had emphasised that enforcement agencies must act promptly on such complaints. He cautioned that any failure by authorities to address noise-related violations would result in accountability being fixed on the officials concerned. The warning aimed to ensure better compliance and protect public health and peace.
