Goa won’t fall short of money, assures CM

PORVORIM: Stating that there has been more than a three-fold increase in the State’s share in central taxes under Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said “Goa will never fall short of money”.
The Chief Minister informed the House that when the BJP government took over in 2012, it received around Rs 1100 crore from the Centre as the State share in central taxes and grant in aid. “The same increased three-fold, with this time Union government earmarking around Rs 3300 crore,” he said.
Parrikar also said the Centre gave a major boost to infrastructure with a Rs 10,000 crore package and another Rs 500-600 crore are expected to come in the next nine months.
The Chief Minister said the State has already received a first installment of Rs 108 crore towards Smart City, under which it will receive Rs 550 crore towards the development of Panjim in the next five years. “Goa will never fall short of money for governance/development,” he assured the House. 
He said the government has cleared all pending bills of contractors. “Now, there is no bill pending of contractors. I have cleared everything in the last 55 days,” he said.
