PANJIM: A day after the Supreme Court ruling on NEET, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday said the government will continue its effort to make GCET the only entrance exam for admission to medical colleges.
“Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi is of the opinion that the State should have its own entrance test for entry into medical colleges and BJP-ruled States agree with his sentiments,” Parsekar said on Tuesday.
However, the chief minister welcomed the Supreme Court ruling for giving another chance to students who appeared for NEET-I on May 1 on short notice. “Those who answered NEET on short notice of two days on May 1 will get another chance on July 24 and we welcome the decision of the Supreme Court,” he said. He, however, said the State will continue its effort for an independent entrance test.
The Supreme Court on Monday allowed Goan students to appear for NEET-II examination, provided they give up their NEET-I score.
