Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network is observing vigilance
awareness week with the theme ‘I Care’ from October 30 to November 5. GOACAN
coordinator Roland Martins said that they observe this week every year with the
focus that the consumers should be alert and vigilant, and point out to the
government agencies about their difficulties.
Martins further stated that GOCAN has received various
complaints from the consumers especially from Salcete and South Goa entirely.
He even alleged that the South Goa has become an area for scamsters to operate.
Martins further stated that the complaints that GOACAN has
received about the Electric Bikes, tour and travel agencies and even the trade
agencies operating without trade licences. He also alleged that the 7 talukas
on South Goa are becoming vulnerable.
Roland Martins also highlighted, “All these scamsters are in
Goa, robbing and cheating people, and this is possible only because the vigilance
has failed from every department”.
