MARGAO: The funeral of (late) John Dias, the youngster from Chandor who was shot dead at the superstore he was working in at Texas, USA, will be held on Saturday in his home village.
Sources close to the family of the deceased said that all the paperwork had been completed in connection with getting his body back to Goa and the mortal remains was expected to arrive in Goa at 2 am on Saturday.
The funeral of John Dias will take place at the Chandor Church on Saturday evening.
The funeral cortege will leave his residence at Culsabhatt, Chandor at 3.15 to the church for the Eucharistic celebration, followed by the burial in the Chandor cemetery.
For the family of Dias, his mother Inacinha Dias, the entire incident has been nothing short of a great personal tragedy and she has been waiting for the moment to see her son’s body in person.
A large number of Dias’s relatives, friends and well-wishers are expected to attend the funeral and offer their condolences and show their solidarity with the family who is still coming to terms with this unfortunate loss. Besides the locals, the football community has expressed their sadness about the death of their fellow football player.
The late Dias was born on May 16, 1995 and died on March 20, 2022. He had plans to build a house for his mother and was expected to get married soon.
