MARGAO: Condemning the statements made by the seafarers’ cell of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) expressed shock to notice their association which is working hard for the betterment of the seafarers’ community is being targeted.
Addressing a press conference at Margao, Frank Viegas, President of GSAI stated that his association has been taking up the issues of seafarers for several years.
Welcoming the group of seafarers which is part of AAP to visit the office of GSAI and work unitedly, he appealed not to target them for political gain.
“The allegation laid down against the GSAI for not doing any activities for the past ten years is totally false as the list of events is in public domain. They should become members of the association if they want to know what we are doing,” appealed President.
Santan Pereira, treasurer, GSAI said that his association is only fighting on the issues of seafarers and not political or against any party.
He further said that Benaulim MLA should not misguide the seafarers’ community.
