MARGAO: The team that represented Goa at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) event that was held at New Delhi on Friday, hailed the experience as ‘fantastic’.

The PM had invited selected students from all over the country to be part of the Republic Day function as well, and the Goan team said they felt lucky to be part of the grand celebration in Delhi.

After the PPC event, they also attended an interactive session with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at his residence.

The team consisted of two students, Piyush Gaonkar from AJ Almeida High School, Ponda, and Mandar Chipkar from Government High School (GHS), Honda, Sattari, and Maria Murena Miranda, the Headmistress of GHS Morpirla, Quepem.

Miranda, who had recently won the National Award, told Herald, “It was a very enriching and very inspiring experience for us to be part of PPC in Delhi. The PM said in the long run, an exam is just one opportunity to challenge yourself. He urged the students to learn time management from their mothers. He urged parents not to pressurise their children. Even though the Goan students did not get an opportunity to ask questions, they were happy to find answers to their questions in the discussion,” said Miranda.

She further added that the PM also spoke about how sometimes parents put pressure on children to compete with other children and said the message was that while expectations from family with respect to the results of the students is normal, it can be unhealthy if the parents pressurise their children from a social status point of view.
