PONDA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, without mentioning the name of TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said that the Goan youth are capable of bringing new dawn in the State and there is no need of an outsider.
He was addressing the youth after the inauguration of jobs, business and career guidance mela under Swayampurna Goa programme organised by Labour and Employment Department at GVM`s College, Farmagudi-Ponda on Sunday.
He urged the youth to become self reliant through various schemes launched by Government of Goa as government jobs are few. “Government is ready to provide support, guidance and encouragement for the same”, he said.
The chief minister cited an example of agriculturalist Varad Samant, a youth from Dharbandora, who started growing various vegetables in his fallow land by converting it into fertile agricultural land. “He is earning a net profit of Rs 35 lakh in a year by supplying his vegetables to Horticulture Department”, Sawant claimed.
“Around 60 companies from the State had participated in the melava and it is expected that Goan unemployed youth will get jobs in those companies after registration and interviews”, he added.
Labour and Employment Minister Jennifer Monserrate, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, Labour and Employment Exchange Director Balchandra Kenkre and Chairman of GVM Bhaskar Khandepar were present on the occasion.
