MARGAO: South Goa Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar has urged Goans not to get carried away on account of the misleading criticism being made against the new CRZ regulations.
Stating that the new regulations will only help the traditional Niz Goenkar fishermen, Sawaikar said, “A draft notification inviting the objections in suggestions with regards to the CRZ regulations has been published and notified. The suggestions for the amendment of the law of regulation from 200 mts, which is now reduced now to 50 mts have been welcomed”.
Commenting on the misleading theories over the new amendment making rounds in Goa, Sawaikar said, “There is no harm in having a debate and considering the objections and suggestions to the new regulations. However, the interest of the Niz Goenkars, the traditional fishermen of Goa has to be kept in mind”.
“The Central Government is taking a step forward to help the Goans and also the countrymen through these new regulations, has to be kept in mind. I had come across some random statement criticising the new regulation and that prompted me to say that Niz Goenkars are most important to us,” he added.
“We have been holding meetings with the MoEF for the last 3 to 4 years and now that the regulation has relaxed the rule to 50 mts, Goenkars will get the biggest benefit. This means, there is employment guarantee to my traditional fishermen of Goa,” he explained.
