PANJIM: Hundreds of Goans got together and protested the Sawant Sarkar’s bad handling of the death of the young girl from Guirim and his failure to protect girls and women in Goa. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a press statement said, “There was palpable anger at what Goans across the State felt was an increasing unwillingness of the Sawant Sarkar to take any steps to protect women. Sawant’s statements and inaction on past cases seems to be emboldening criminal elements in Goa.”
AAP convenor Rahul Mhambre, while addressing the crowd highlighted how lack of infrastructure like CCTVs impacted safety and also demanded CBI enquiry in the case.
AAP leader Mahadev Naik asked the CM whether in the last 5 years he has been able to ensure that water reaches every Goenkar. “Goenkars are suffering with erratic water supply, dirty water and dry taps even during the monsoons,” Naik said. “After the Sawant sarkar’s announcement, officials from the PWD are still clueless as to how they will implement this step barely 15 days before its announcement,” he added
