PANJIM: The North Goa District Administration has directed that persons stranded outside the country and returning to Goa will undergo mandatory institutional quarantine, even if they test negative for COVID-19. In the case of seafarers, the cost will have to be borne by their company, while others will have to undergo quarantine at their own cost.
“All persons entering into Goa State including seafarers who sign off at any Indian port will be sent to institutional quarantine center for testing on arrival. If tested positive, they will be shifted to the COVID hospital, as per the existing protocol,” the order by North Collector R Menaka said.
“All Indian nationals, if tested negative will undergo mandatory institutional quarantine at their own cost or in the case of seafarers, the cost to be paid by their company, for a minimum period of 14 days on arrival in India, by flights/ships,” it stated further.
The condition for Goans stranded in different parts of the country has been slightly changed as they will be sent for home quarantine for 14 days on being tested negative, and accommodation will not be charged for those producing a Goa residential address.
“All persons entering into Goa State will be sent to institutional quarantine center for testing on arrival. If they test positive, they will be shifted to the COVID hospital, as per the existing protocol. If the test results are negative, they will be discharged on the same day to be sent on home quarantine for 14 days. Accommodation will not be charged for those persons producing proof of residential address in Goa (Goans) during their stay in quarantine centers,” the order stated.
However, food will be charged as per the prevailing rates if it is served by the quarantine center. Own arrangement for food can be made by persons in quarantine. “A consolidated amount of Rs 2,500 per day per person (all inclusive) will be charged in quarantine centers for non-Goans,” it added.
