PANJIM: With no signs of change in wind direction or unseasonal rain, Goa will reel under a heat wave for the next two to three days, says the State’s weather bureau which recorded day temperatures at 37.4 degrees Celsius as against 37.7 degrees Celsius yesterday.
What may also not come as good news, Goa will experience a hot summer with temperatures possibly at 35 degrees Celsius or more during the next three months.
KV Singh heading the Met office in Goa said that it was difficult to pin point reasons for the unusual weather prevailing in the State. He, however, said that sea breeze is setting in late and there could be some relief only if wind directions changed from the eastern and south eastern side and started blowing in from the north western side.
Singh said, “It is unlikely that the temperature would exceed 37.7 degrees even though it has reached that point in March 2009”.
Medical practitioners have advised people to remain hydrated all the time as the heat wave and humidity is causing discomfort, reddening of the eyes and flu.
Asked if the existing heat conditions would have any change on the monsoon schedule, Singh said, “it was too early to forecast the monsoons”.
