PANJIM: The State on Thursday recorded 424 positive cases and two deaths as the total confirmed cases spiked to 13,099 while the active cases count stood at 3,910. The count of deaths rose to 126 as of Thursday evening. In relief amidst rising cases, a total of 9,063 persons have recovered.
Margao Urban Health Centre has the highest number of COVID-19 active cases numbering 525 followed by Vasco UHC at 354.
On Thursday, two men with co-morbid conditions succumbed to the virus. A 67-year-old from Dabolim and 45-year-old from Mandur, both undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College were the two deaths reported, as per the health bulletin released by the Health Department.
A total of 161 people opted for home isolation on Thursday with a total of 2,779 in home quarantine since January 29, 2020.
Among those who have been home quarantined on Thursday are 12 inter-state domestic travelers. Another 96 suspects have been kept in hospital isolation in the last 24 hours.
At present, the bulletin states that 31 persons have been quarantined across various residencies/hotels.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that with a surge in COVID-19 cases at Margao, the government has prepared another battleground to combat the virus. “Operations at Hospicio Hospital will be shifted to New South Goa District Hospital & the old hospital will be used as COVID hospital for pre-natal & ante-natal activities,” he tweeted.
