MARGAO: The Goa State Innovation Council’s (GSInC) Rapid Prototyping Lab, housed within the premises of the Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, has been bestowed with the prestigious SKOCH Order of Merit Certificate. This recognition highlights the lab’s pivotal role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the State.
In the statistics provided by GSInC to showcase the impact of the lab, it was pointed out that through the lab, 11 patents were supported, 57 prototypes were constructed, 87 projects were mentored, and 553 workshops were conducted, thereby empowering a total of 8,961 participants. Furthermore, the GSInC’s broader efforts have reached an even larger audience, with 553 workshops conducted and a total of 42,684 participants trained under its auspices.
They added that the Rapid Prototyping Lab is a state-of-the-art facility that provides a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers to turn their ideas into tangible prototypes. Equipped with machinery such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and electronics workstations, the lab offers a range of prototyping services to support the development of new products, services, and solutions.
“Our mission is to support prototyping and make it affordable for students, startups, innovators, research faculty, and entrepreneurs who require the necessary support in converting ideas into scalable products. The ultimate goal of the Rapid Prototyping Lab is to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Goa by providing a collaborative space for prototyping and testing new ideas,” said GSInC officials.
Moreover, they added that the lab offers expert guidance from trained professionals and fosters collaboration and networking among individuals, creating a supportive environment for idea exchange and partnership development, ultimately driving innovation and entrepreneurship within the region.
