PANJIM: Goencho Avaaz, an umbrella organization of 37 non-profit organizations, will hold a protest meet at Gandhi Chowk, Old Goa on Tuesday highlighting the ill governance of the ‘corrupt and sick’ BJP-led coalition government.

Addressing media persons, Goencho Avaz convenor Capt Viriato Fernandes said that with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar remaining hospitalized, there is no governance and only corruption can be seen. “In absence of in charge, there is no one to fix responsibility or to hold accountable. Everyone is acting as per their wishes,” he said.
Fernandes said that the tax payers’ money is being spent to provide treatment to the Chief Minister and MLAs in USA, Delhi and Mumbai. He said that the government is playing with the sentiments and health of the people on issues like outline development plan, mining, fish-formalin, etc.
Activist Arthur D’Souza said Goa has become the laughing stock globally due to the current corrupt practices of the Parrikar-led government.
He said there is no governance as all the ministers are busy in adopting corrupt practices.
Speaking on social issues, activist Roshan Mathais said the coastal belt of Calangute has become the land of drugs, prostitution and sex trade.
“All thanks to the government, who is backing them,” he alleged.
