VASCO: Orville Dourado Rodrigues (Founder) of Goencheo Ekvott(GE) has raised strong objection to personal hearing for land acquisition for special railway project of ‘Londa Vasco Road Overbridge’ instead of ‘Level Crossing Nos. 25 Project’ at Casaulim.
In a statement issued by Goencho Ekvott, Orville stated that ‘The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued Health Advisory dated 29/03/2020 for elderly population of India during COVID19, but shamelessly this government is forcing senior citizens to travel to Dy.Collector /SDO & SDM, Mormugao,Vasco da Gama.
The villagers of Cansaulim and Arossim are in great shock and panic as they are continuously harassed by the deputy collector and receiving notice after notices for land acquisition first for double tracking and now for overbridge at Cansaulim.
Further he said that this special railway project of “Londa Vasco Road Overbridge’ in lieu of ‘Level Crossing Nos. 25 Project’ is only to facilitate coal transportation as the number of coal trains will increase from 14 to multifold which will in turn make the life of villagers hell, as 136 million Metric ton per annum will destroy our traditional livelihoods, our culture, our heritage structures etc.”
Joint Secretary of GE Olencio Simoes stated that if government is really serious and concerned about people of Cansaulim then they should construct ‘Rail Under Bridge’, which can be achieved by expanding the existing Under Pass no.260 opposite Cansaulim primary school, which doesn’t require any acquisition nor much infrastructural cost burden.
