MARGAO: The work to tar roads has been tendered, but the big question haunting the housing board residents and those commuting along the Gogol route is that when will the actual work begin?
The hopes of getting good roads without potholes for housing board residents and the commuters through Gogol have drawn closer to reality. However, the wait for better roads, has made people impatient. Local leaders have informed that the work may start in December. However, there is a exact date or time when the actual work will start.  When Herald contact Councillor Raju Shirodkar, he informed that the work of the tarring the internal and main roads has been tendered.
“The work worth Rs 3.50 crore and another of Rs 1.50 crore have been tendered. This includes the road from Gogol junction right up to Ramnagari and also the internal roads of Housing Board areas”.
The area, which comes under Curtorim constituency, has over six thousand voters and there are chances that the roads may be tarred just before elections. However, the question still remains as to why the roads were not tarred even after most digging works were over a year ago.
Krishna Rao, a Housing Board resident said, “The roads, which were used for BRICS were tarred twice within 15 days. We don’t mind. But if the resources can be mobilised so quickly for VIPs then why not for the common man, who is paying for his well being.”
Earlier, people from the locality had demonstrated but nothing really happened. The Sewerage Department and Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco had completed patch up work but a carpet of tar is the need of the hour.
